Broad beans

The Fruit and Vegetable Markets

We’ve been enjoying the crisp sunny winter days that Sydney does so well. Admittedly there is a definite chill in the air when visiting Flemington Markets at 6am. You can see some of the images from a recent visit on our Facebook page. The image above is of some of those broad beans. We haven’t found any of the smaller ones yet, so these have been twice peeled. It is a little work but well worth the effort. Ligurians love to eat them raw with a slice of fresh pecorino, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Buonissimo.

Our Staff

Our private room has been kept busy with many events from some really lovely family gatherings to the much more business-like corporate functions. We really want to thank our terrific staff for their versatility in looking after, so beautifully; small children one day and captains of industry the next. Grazie ragazzi.


We have two great events lined up for you in August.

  • A very special Art of Pasta Dinner on Wednesday 8th August at 7pm. Enjoy some fabulous & unusual dishes from the book, and hear Lucio and David Dale talk about the makings of the book and some of the great stories behind it. We may be able to coerce Luke Sciberras into attending as well. Bookings essential.
  • Lucio will be hosting a joint hands-on cooking class at the Sydney Seafood School on Saturday 18th August with his good friend Armando Percuoco.

There will be a lot of laughs and great food at both of these events! See further details below for a very special dinner to celebrate this most delicious ingredient.

Sydney Seafood School

Join two passionate Italian restaurateurs, Lucio Galletto of Lucio’s and Armando Percuoco of Buon Ricordo at this fun and informative hands-on class.

You’ll see the maestros in action, where they will be ‘explaining’ the many differences between Northern and Southern Italian cuisine –  and then cook and eat the dishes yourselves with a wine tasting.

You will learn a little, laugh a little and love the experience.
